My rocky road all began when I spotted Smith Bite’s Almond Butter Buttons on The Cake Duchess. They looked stupendous, and only 4 ingredients. How could I not make them? So while the chili crock potted away for dinner, I began mixing and baking. The batter was so good! However, I’ve determined I’m not much of a baker.
I have no idea what I did wrong but the cookies came out of the oven all cooked into one stuck-to-the-pan megacookie. Some were, eh hem, blackened and others just crumbled apart.
Needless to say I spared you the pictures of that disaster – despite how tasty the crumbles were – and made these instead:
And thus, the Rocky Road Rice Krispy Treat was born. Chocolate, marshmallows and nuts are the normal rocky road combo. But in the LYK, we are anything but normal.
Adding Nutella and peanut butter to these put them over the top.
Simple little scrumptious treats, aren’t they? Just melt the peanut butter, nutella and chocolate chips in the microwave and
stir it up little darlin’, stir it up
Ignore me…
Add the mallows, krispies and nuts and stir it up again, little darlin’.
I know these sound ridiculous but you really, really need them. They literally took 10 minutes and now I can enjoy them for dessert after breakfast, lunch and dinner.
What? I can’t have dessert after every meal? Hmph.

Yum, Yum girls. Had to subsitute the nutella for Loacker Hazelnut spread, and wish the where a bit more like the original rice crispy treats. Next batch I will add more brown rice puffs, but do you have any suggestions to make the more the the original treats?

Thanks Alan! We liked the chocolatey-ness but if you want them more liek the original, I would suggest more rice crispies and marshmallows
