LYK Relaxation Station: A Step in the Right Direction

by Pearl

Welcome back to the LYK Relaxation Station! If you are wondering what in the world the LYK Relaxation Station is, well, just click on last friday’s post to check out our new summer development. Now, for the good stuff…

After the long hard week which I’m sure we all endured, it’s time for A Step in the Right Direction. This delightfully refreshing cocktail is an undeniable remedy for your work week.

This, my friends, is St. Jermaine [St. Germain]. So pretty it needs a mini photo shoot. Take a good look at what we are dealing with here. Sheer elegance.

What is St. Jermaine you ask? St. Jermaine is a sweet French liqueur made from elderflower blossoms.  It has the sweetness of simple syrup but with a less sugary flavor.  I almost always use this as an alternative to simple syrup and triple sec.   It can be a bit challenging to find at a liquor store, but BevMo always has it in stock.  They also carry it in mini’s if you’re not ready to commit to the big bottle, since a little goes a long way.

Please disregard the spill. But don’t worry, this stuff is so good it got slurped right up.

Ingredients:

serves 2

4 oz Vodka

2 oz Orange Juice

2 oz St. Jermaine

16 Fresh Mint Leaves

1 Lime in Wedges

Club Soda (as desired)

Directions:

Muddle the mint and lime in a cocktail shaker with just a splash of vodka.  If you do not have a muddler, a wooden spoon will suffice with a little added effort.

Add the Vodka, OJ, and St. Jermaine.

Lid on, hold tightly, shake well.

Strain drink into a small pitcher or two individual glasses over ice.

Add club soda to taste.  (I usually do 1 part soda, 1 part mix)

Enjoy!
