LYK Relaxation Station: Bourbon Mint Tea

by Pearl

Labor Day Weekend is always bitter sweet to me.  I am overwhelmed with excitement for these three long days my friends and I will spend basking in sunshine poolside (LYK Cocktail in hand, of course), but it’s hard to ignore that this holiday marks the end of summer.   So, before I start my “fall is coming” pity party, let’s keep this summer celebration rolling with some Bourbon Mint Tea!

LYK Note: Spelnda is a great sugar substitute in cocktails.  You really can’t taste the difference.

I know it’s a long weekend, so just in case the Bourbon runs dry before it’s over,  here are a couple of my other favorite cocktails to keep the party going.  You can always switch to a Strawberry Jalapeno Margarita or A Step in the Right Direction. Have a great weekend!

Makes 6

7 Black Tea Bags

4 Cups of Water

½ Cup of Sugar

1 ½ Cups of Bourbon (Give or take a ½ cup depending how much you like the stuff)

¼ Cup of Fresh Mint chopped and muddled with a splash of lemon juice (you know the drill)

1 Lemon

Boil 2 cups of water.  Turn off heat and put the tea bags in the water.  Allow tea to steep covered for at least 15 minutes then remove tea bags.  Stir in sugar until dissolved.  Transfer tea mixture to a large pitcher and 2 cups of cold water, Bourbon, muddled mint, and lemon juice.  Stir.  Chill.  Serve over ice.

  1. I’m not a huge bourbon fan, but I love this drink! One of my really good friends does love bourbon, though, so I’ll have to share this recipe with her. She’s currently in Montana, so I think this drink would be even more fitting. 😉

  2. It looks delicious! They’d go perfectly with the bourbon marinated chicken I cooked/blogged today!
