Broccoli & Spinach Pesto {Vegan option}

by Chrissy

Broccoli Spinach Pesto_LYK2

This is kind of pesto. But there isn’t any basil in it. Or nuts. And not nearly enough olive oil, for a normal pesto.

But it’s just as tasty, loads healthier, and goes great on pasta and a variety of other things.

You know the large stalk of broccoli that you would normally chuck in the trash after harvesting the florets? Yea, well, don’t do that anymore. You’ll be wasting a perfectly good ingredient!

Kale Pesto Braided Bread

by Chrissy

This past weekend, we had a green-themed party in honor of our friend’s long-awaited green card. Hey, any excuse for a party, right?

Now, I’m … Read more...

As much as I’d like to think Home Depot and I get along, I’ve decided we don’t.

I’m by no means a girly girl but something about all the manly men in this testosterone filled warehouse, the excessive power tools, the couples arguing over paint colors and the orange aprons really overwhelms me.

And why in the world are there so many different kinds of screws, nails and the like? An entire aisle dedicated to tiny metal instruments really complicates … Read more...

Lemon-Thyme Basil Pesto

by Chrissy

I’d like to think that we have a “no basil left behind” motto in our kitchen.

You see, one time last year, we went to TJ’s to grab a few key ingredients for a dinner that we were preparing later that night; there was none to be found. Organic and non-organic basil were both MIA. Obviously, they just had not been restocked, yet.

Obviously not. Let the panic begin. There is simply no suitable substitute for fresh basil. It’s … Read more...
