I’ve been wanting to go on a picnic for quite some time now. Granted, it’s not exactly picnic season, hence the pouring rain this past week, but now that’s it’s bright, sunny and 70 degrees again, I think I can start thinking about my picnic menu again.

It’s raining! It’s pouring (well, not so much pouring…but for pete’s sake the sky is doing something other than emitting sunshine)! Now our farmers and pocketbooks can be a little more relieved that the price and quality of produce can be a little less inhibited by So Cal’s droughty weather.

It’s fragrant, toasty and has such a warm and inviting personality.

In dressings and sauces, it is such a delight. Yes, it can be a little high on the calorie scale, but a little goes a long way, so as long as you mix it with other oils, vinegars, and flavors, it evens out.

Fennel, Apple, & Dill Salad {with lemon dijon dressing}

We are all about balance in the LYK. Yesterday you had cupcakes, today you get salad. We realize a good indulgence every once in a while (chocolate at least once a day is a must for me) is totally necessary but we also recognize the importance of a healthy diet. I definitely keep a bag of truffles in my office drawer or stock up on the Reese’s at Halloween so I can have one a day after lunch.
