A weekend to remember {engagement party & more}

by Lauren

Chris and I had our engagement party this weekend and we never could have imagined the outpouring of love, excitement and genuine friendship that we had this weekend.

Nearly 40 of our closest friends (+ a little family) from all over California and all parts of our lives came together to celebrate with us and it was so much fun.

Our amazing friend (and bridesmaid!) Darci made some beautiful centerpieces and a scrapbook for people to write in. The centerpieces will be scattered throughout the LYK for at least a week and we will cherish that little book of memories forever!

Chrissy baked some of the fluffiest chocolate cupcakes ever for the party! So light and moist…perfection.

Oh and that cream cheese frosting, wow. These classy little cakes were a hit. It sure doesn’t hurt to have a maid of honor that can bake with the best of them.

Chrissy and I also had a date with each other, an almond scone, ham and cheese croissant and cappuccinos before trying on some bridesmaid dresses on Saturday morning.

Before I tortured Chrissy and Darci with trying on bridesmaid dresses for hours on Sunday, we ate a very large and delicious meal.

We had a fabulous Short Rib Hash and Pulled Pork Eggs Benedict from Burlap courtesy of our extremely generous friend Jessi!

Then we proceeded to stuff ourselves with dessert when she surprised us with a gorgeous customized dessert plate!

Lemon Grass and Coconut tapioca and carrot cake. Wow.

What an amazing weekend. Thank you to all of our friends and family who made it so memorable and special for Chris and I. We are so incredibly grateful to have you all in our lives!

Chris & Lauren are getting married!

by Lauren

A little something that’s not so little at all happened this weekend, and I feel like the happiest, most excited, shocked, and incredibly blessed person on Earth.

The love of my life asked for my hand in marriage this weekend, and I of course said, “of course!.”

We’ve had some pretty amazing adventures over the last six years together, and if you’ve followed us for a while now you might remember a few of them.

One of the more infamous being our documented 7-week road trip around the U.S.A., in which we managed enjoy every single second of it together.

Want to know how he did it?!

We we’re doing one of our favorite things in the world to do together, having a casual picnic on a gorgeous Saturday afternoon at our favorite park nearby.

But this time Chris surprised me with a bottle of champagne (which he managed to hide!), told me how much he loved me, and opened a little box that revealed the most beautiful ring I’ve ever seen.

He then whisked me away to The Estancia where we had great wine, a delicious dinner, and a surprise bottle of champagne sponsored by my amazing father.

And more wine…

Needless to say, we are both extremely excited and feel so loved by all of our family and friends as we enjoy our engagement.

Get ready for some wedding bliss in the LYK!

P.S. Also get ready to hear about the seared ahi sandwich we made for this proposal picnic!

Aqua Chocolate Covered Oreos & Blingin’ Champagne Glasses

by Lauren

My childhood pal and best friend, Kristin, got married this weekend. I didn’t think I’d cry because for some reason I have trouble shedding a tear in general, but when she came down the aisle I definitely did.

She looked beautiful, in love, and I’m so incredibly happy for them!

The bachelorette party was sooo much fun! I decorated champagne glasses using iridescent decals, glitter, and mod podge.

These were so simple and would be great for any bridal shower or bachelorette party!

I taped off the stem of the glass, brushed with mod podge, sprinkled with glitter, and let dry. I then gently added another coat of mod podge (using my finger) over the glitter and let dry.

I wrapped them all up, put them in a box, and traveled 3,000 miles to Virginia without one breaking!

The bride requested something similar to these delectable white chocolate dipped Oreos, which were a HUGE hit at the wedding.

When I got to VA, my mom and I dyed white chocolate to make it aqua chocolate, then dipped and drizzled to add these and yogurt covered pretzels drizzled with aqua chocolate to the dessert bar.

They matched the evening’s color theme perfectly!

We did a little bit of sightseeing on our way out of town, and after a whirlwind of wedding bliss, I was back in good ‘ol San Diego!
